What is the Rapture

“For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the Archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  – I Thess. 4:16,17.

This passage of inspirational Scripture from the pen of the Apostle Paul announces one of the glorious events in the future history of the Church, The Rapture.

Many people miss the blessing of the prophetic utterances in the Bible.  They think of Christianity as being merely a way of life, a noble philosophy, and the proper manner of living.  They do not realize that God has a planned, comprehensive program for His people, the Church and thereby invade the joy of Christian expectancy for the future.

Prophecy is history written in advance.   all the things that happened to Jesus in His sojourn through life were foretold by the prophets in the Old Testament.

All of the things which the future holds for God’s people are foretold by the prophetic writers of the New Testament.  In this jewel of prophetic truth which Paul gave to the Church at Thessalonica, shines the hope of Christians of all ages, the blessed hope of Christ return.

The word “Rapture” itself is not found in the New Testament, but the doctrine of the Rapture of the Church is clearly outlined by both Jesus Himself and the other writers of the Bible.  The doctrine of the Rapture is set forth in God’s Word.

The word “Rapture, according to Webster, means “the act of being transported or fact of being transported.  This noun is derived from the adjective “rapt” which means “to be lifted bu some supernatural force; transported as in spirit or to another place.

There are many interpretations of the meaning of the Rapture and some of them do not harmonize with the true teaching of God’s Word.  I like to call the Rapture  ” the end of time”.

      How to Stick to God’s Plan

      I get upset at people who tell me what I ought to believe about religion.  I have my own ides and private beliefs about  God.  My faith satisfies me, and as long as I am sincere, that is all that matters isn’t. it

      Imagine you were going to a doctor because you clearly  had something wrong with you.  “It really doesn’t matter what medicine you take for this problem, because all medicines are alike and the important thing is to be sincere when you take it.” 

      What would you think?  I think you would be alarmed, because you know that sincerity is not enough.  You need the right medicine. 

      In the same way, it is dangerous to think it does not matter what we think about God, just so we are sincere. Tthe Bible tells us we all have a problem-a spirtual problem.  That problem is sin.  No matter who we are, we have failed to do what we should do. and there are many things we have done that  we should not have done.  We can’t rely on our own ideas about God we need to know the truth about God  We also need his forgiveness, and we need to be reconciled to God. 

      There is only one “medicine” for that spirtual disease-and this is the remedy God himself has provided for us.  You see, God loves us and he wants us to come to know him personally.  That is why he sent his only Son.   Jesus Christ, into the world.  Christ came to take away our sins through his death on the cross, and by faith in him we can be forgiven and know God’s salvation.

      Don’t turn your back on Christ, and don’t sustitute your own ideas for God’s clear plan of salvation.  Turn to God’s word, the bible, and discover that Christ alone is “the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).  Then ask him to come into your heart and be your Lord and Savior.

        How to handle your Bereavement

        How to handle your day of bereavement, after the lost of a love one.  Pray about it, talk with God.

        Father, eyes blinded by the symbols of my sorrow cannot see the stars.

        Even so, I at this moment, can see nothing beyond my own grief.

        I am face to face with misery and loneliness in these days; with the strangeness

        of life and death that takes away a loved one and gives no explanation; with the mystery of a Providence I have tried to understand and cannot understand.

        You, O Holy Spirit, You  do visit me in my sorrow, You are acquainted with

        my human tears and my broken heart, surely I need your help now.

        My heart is sore, I have shut the door of my heart to my friends, even to you O Lord.

        But I sense that withdrawal and the effort to dull my feelings is not the way toward

        healing.  Help me now to dare to open my being wide to the balm of your

        loving Spirit, unafraid of any depth or height or intensity of overflowing emotion.

        You, O Lord has promised to wipe away all tears from our eyes.

        I ask you to fulfill that promise now.

        You promised to bind up our wounded spirit.

        You promised to give us peace, not as the world gives but in the midst of our troubles.

        I ask you to fulfill that promise now.

        You have promised to be with us always.

        I thank you right now for all that you  have promised.

        I know that you are walking beside me every step of the way.

        I put my hand in thine, and walk on into the future, knowing

        that it will be a good future because you are in it.

        Thank You Lord

          A Prayer of True Repentance

          Lord I Repent of My Sins

          Forgive me, Lord Jesus, for the things I have done that make me feel uncomfortable in your presence.  All the front that I keep so carefully for men to see, does not deceive you..

          For you know every thought that has left its shadow on my memory.  You have marked every motive that curdled something sweet  within me.

          I acknowledge, with sorrow and true repentance, that

          I have desired that which I should not have;

          I have played with what I knew was not for me;

          I have been preoccupied with self-interest;

          I have invited unclean thoughts into my mind and entertained

          them as honored guests;

          My ears have often been deaf to your voice when you whisper to me;

          My eyes have often been blind to the signs of your guidance;

          Make me willing to be changed, even though it requires surgery of my soul

          and the therapy of discipline.

          Make my heart warm and soft, that I may receive and accept now the blessing of your forgiveness and peace that I may sin no more.  This is my prayer in Jesus name. Amen.

          The Old Testament Genesis One

          The opening sentence of the Book of Genesis is an interpretation of the fact “that what is seen hath not been made out of things which do appear” (Hebrews 11:3)  and accounts for the things which are seen.  The whole chapter, and,  all subsequent Scripture, must be read in the light of this statement as to origins.  This sentence is followed immediately by a declaration, without detail, of a cataclysm which overtook the earth.  It then proceeds to show how the God who created, restored the earth to fruitfulness and order.  God is here revealed in the threefold fact of His existence.  The chaotic earth is seen held in the embrace of the Spirit, who is described  as brooding over it.  The Word of God is heard expressing the Will of God.  God is seen speaking the purpose of His mind in word and doing.  His Will through the activity of the Spirit.  The purpose of this restoring process is seen in the creation of an entirely new being.  Man.  This being is revealed as having direct relationship with God, being made in HIS image and likeness.  Here the deepest truth concerning man’s nature, that of its spirituality, is not declared.   Consequently there is here no reference to his  moral nature, except as both these may be implied in the fact of his being in the image and likeness of God.  Chapter One of the book of Genesis in the Old Testament reveals a universe rooted in the thought and activity of God, and of man as being His offspring.  The acceptation of these declarations give to the mind a sense of the majesty of all being, creating a radiant background against which the darkness of subsequent history will be seen and understood more clearly.  Any other view of the universe and man fails to understand the real nature of evil.

          How to have Peace, Power and Plenty

          The optimist is right. The Pessimist is right.  The one differs from the other as the light from the dark.  Yet both are right,.  Each is right from his own  particular point of view, and this point of view is the determining factor in the life of each of us.  It determines as to whether it is a life of power or of impotence, of peace or of  pain, of success or of failure.

          This optimist has the power of see things in their entirety and in their right relations.  The pessimist looks from a limited and a one sided point of view.

          The one has his understanding illumined by wisdom, the understanding of the other is darkened by ignorance.  Each is building his world from within, and the result of the building is determined by the point of view of each.  The optimist, by his superior wisdom and insight, is making his own heaven, and in the degree that he makes his own heaven is he helping to make one for all the world beside.  The pessimist, by virtue of his limitations, is making his own hell, and in the degree that he makes his own hell is he helping to make one for all mankind.

          You and I have the predominating characteristics of an optimist or the predominating characteristics of a pessimist.  We than are making, hour by hour, our own heaven or our own hell; and in the degree that we are making the one or the other for ourselves are we helping make it for all the world beside.

          The word heaven means harmony.  The word hell is from the old English hell, meaning to build a wall around, to separate; to be helled was to be shut off from.  Now if there is such a thing as harmony there must be that something that can be in right relations with; for to be in right relations with anything is to be in harmony with it.   Again, if there is such a thing as being helled, shut off, separated from, there must be that something from which one is held, shut off, or separated.

          God’s Divine Will

          God’s Divine will is for us all, we must learn how to tap into this golden thread.

          What one has done, all may do!

          This same golden thread must enter into the lives of all who today, in this busy work-a-day world of ours, would exchange impotence for power, weakness and suffering for abounding health and strength,  pain and unrest for perfect peace, poverty of whatever nature for fullness and plenty.

          Each of us is building our own world.  Thought is the force with which we build, for thoughts are forces.  Like builds like and like attracts like.  In the degree that thought your spirit materialize  does it become more subtle and powerful in its workings.  This spiritualism  is in accordance with law and is within the power of us all.

          Everything is first worked out in the unseen before it is manifested in the seen, in the ideal before it is realized in the real , in the spiritual before it shows forth in the material.  The realm of the unseen is the realm of cause.  The realm of the seen is the realm of effect.  The nature  of effect is always determined and conditioned by the nature of its cause.

          To point out the great facts in connection with, and the great laws underlying the  workings of the interior, spiritual, thoughts  forces, to point them out so simply and so clearly that even a child can understand, is my aim.  To point them out so simply and so clearly that all can grasp them, that all can take them and infuse them into every-day life, so as to mould it in all its details in accordance with what we would have it, is the purpose.  That life can be moulded  by us is not a matter of mere speculation or theory, but a matter of positive knowledge.

          There is a divine sequence running throughout the universe.  Within and above and below the “human will”  incessantly works the “Divine will”.  To come into harmony the Divine will of God and thereby with all the higher laws and forces, to come then  into league and to work in conjunction with them, in order that they can work in league and in conjunction with us, is to come into the chain of this wonderful sequence.  This is the secret of all success.  This is to come into the possession of unknown riches into realization of undreamed-of powers.
